A couple months ago, I received a call with an opportunity to travel down the Oregon Coast. I didn’t even give myself time to think twice. It had already been a couple years since I started looking for the time, and resources to visit the northwest. So I jumped at the chance.

The last week in May my trip started at the northern part of the coast, in a sleepy little town called Oceanside. The rental home had the vast open water to the west, and the lush green forest on every other side. What a dream!

My next couple days would be spent cruising up and down the beaches, wading in freezing cold water, and visiting near by attractions. Along with Oceanside and Tillamook, one city I couldn’t wait to day trip to was Astoria, on the far northern tip of the coast. (For those who love the “Goonies,” this is a must see place.)

Astoria was a busy, port town with much to see and do. I took my time traveling up the coast, stopping to shoot, shop in antique stores and enjoy the scenery. After finally reaching Astoria, I stumbled across an awesome photo gallery, Lightbox Photographic, that not only had photography I loved, but also my other obsession — vintage cameras!

After perusing the city and visiting galleries, I finished the day with a beer and burger at the Buoy Beer Co. located on the river. (Talk about an awesome view to enjoy a brew!)

Towards the end of the week it was time to move south to the next stop: Bandon, OR, a small but active town, with adorable vintage shops and galleries. The travel time made for a long but beautiful drive, stopping at beaches the whole way. When we finally arrived to Bandon, I had to stare in awe at the beautifully remodeled shoe store we were about to stay in. With an open floor plan, two stories, airy beach decor, and an ocean view, it made me fall in love.

I made sure to make my last few days in state worth while- getting up early and staying out late.  Oregon has become, by far, one of my top favorite places I’ve visited in the United States. So until I can return, a piece of my heart stays in the Pacific Sun.
